AMD Radeon HD 7900 28nm “Tahiti” graphics cards coming on January 9
Just yesterday we told you about leaked specification of AMD Tahiti GPU based on 28nm process technology. And today word on internet has it AMD is all set to launch at least two graphics cards based on 28nm Tahiti GPU on January 9. The expected video cards are AMD Radeon HD 7970 and Radeon HD 7950.
From earlier reports we know that Tahiti GPU packs 2048 1D processing cores, 4.50 billion transistors, 1GHz memory clock, 384-bit wide GDDR5 memory interface, 240~264 GB/s bandwidth, 128 TMUs, 48 ROPs, and advanced GCN 1D architecture.
Going specific, the Radeon HD 7970 will have 2048 cores operating at 1GHz, 3GB of GDDR5 memory with clock speed of 1.37GHz and 264GB/s of memory bandwidth.
The Radeon HD 7950 has 1920 streaming cores operating at 900MHz, 1.25GHz memory clock, 256-bit or 384-bit memory bus, 120 texture units, and 60 ROPs.
No word on pricing but expect them to cost between $349 and $449.
AMD is expected to launch these cards on January 9, so stay tuned!
