Soldam Altium Series desktops
Soldam Japan has launched their Altium series which are quite powerful machines. The high end Altium FC500 Studio which will cost you a bomb is a quad core machine that boosts 2.93GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 2 Extreme X6800 chip. The other features includes 4GB RAM, Intel 975X Express (bad choice), 4x 750GB HDD, DVD Super Multiple Drive, FDD+ card reader, and three 19-inch LCD display (even I am shocked). The powerful machine is loaded with Gigabit Ethernet, 6 USB ports, IEEE and Windows XP. No word on Vista. This computer will run you for about $11,374.
The low end Altium FC200 LE DAW packs 1.86GHz Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 processor, 2GB memory, Intel G965 Express (video functional built-in) chipset, 250GB HDD, DVD Super Multiple Drive, FDD+ card reader, and only one 19-inch LCD display. Running on Windows XP, it is priced at $2,588.
