IBM to offer Linux (Microsoft-free) PCs in Eastern Europe

ibm_logo2.jpg In a way IBM is back in computer business -- it'll provide Red Hat base Linux PCs in Eastern Europe. Wondering why the hell its back after selling it's consumer computer department to Lenovo? Well, its because a huge demand from Russian side for Microsoft-free products. As this particular Russian source doesn't like MS, all the PC will be equipped with open source softwares such as IBM Lotus Symphony and will cost about half as much as Microsoft-equipped PCs.

Reportedly, IBM isn’t actually going to build PCs, but will work with partners in Eastern Europe to acquire them. According to Reuters, government agencies (including the Ministry of Defense), and couple of professional outfits such as Aeroflot airline and Alfa Bank had ordered these PCs.
