As the market for energy-efficient desktops is growing at a steady rate, more and more companies are releasing power-saving computers for business users. The latest products in this category comes from the house of Hewlett-Packard. The Compaq dc7800 Ultra-slim PC with SSD and the Compaq dc5800 business PC are energy efficient desktops with a variety of environmental features that allow them to meet the most stringent environmental requirements of the Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT) Gold registry. The press release says, while using more power-efficient PCs can help any business save on energy costs and reduce the environmental impact of their technology, the effect across an enterprise environment can be immense.
The Ultra-slim dc7800 starts at $729 with Intel Core 2 Duo processor, Intel vPro technology, up to 4GB RAM, max 160GB hard drive, Graphics Media Accelerator 3100, dual layer DVD burner, and Vista. But if you prefer to go SSD way then you'll have to shell out about $1,258.
The dc5800 is similarly specced system with a starting price of $579.
