eMachines today released three desktops and two widescreen monitors targeted towards the lucrative back-to-school segment. The T3656 is a cheap desktop powered by an Intel Celeron 440 processor (2.0GHz). It ships with Windows Vista Home Basic and offers 1GB RAM (expandable up to 2GB), 160GB 7200rpm hard drive, DVD Supermulti drive, Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950, keyboard, mouse, and 15-in-1 card reader. The T3656 is now available for $300. The $400 T5274 is a more powerful machine with Intel Pentium Dual-Core Processor E2180 (2.0GHz). It also offers same specs except for 2gig RAM, 320GB hard drive, and Vista Home Premium. The $500 W3653 is similar to T5274, but with a 17-inch widescreen display (1440 × 900 resolution) and 1gig RAM.
eMachines also cranked tow budget widescreen monitors — the 17″ E17T6W and 19″ E19T6W. The 17-incher ($190) sports a sleek, space-saving design with adjustable tilt and offers 1440×900 resolution, 600:1 contrast ratio, 250 cd/m² brightness, 8ms response time, and 160/150 degrees viewing angle.
