Dell Precision T5400 and T7400 workstations for extreme use
When someone says workstation, we generally think of a powerful desktop computer with quad core processor, huge storage capacity, high-end graphics card, and decent amount of system memory, right? But Dell's latest products aren't regular workstations -- they're one of the most powerful computers packed in normal size chassis. The standout features are 45nm Intel Xeon processors (up to a 3.20GHz), max 3TB storage capacity, two high-performance OpenGL graphics cards (supporting up to four 30-inch flat panel monitors at full resolution), and support for up to 128GB of system memory (on T7400) when 8GB DIMMs become available.
Both of them sports Dell-engineered acoustic improvements which makes these systems up to 33 percent quieter than their predecessors and 80-plus percent efficient power supplies to reduce power consumption.
“Workstation customers rely on specialized applications and demand maximum performance from their systems,” said Antonio Julio, director worldwide marketing, Dell Precision workstations. “These systems have some of the fastest Intel processors, high-end OpenGL graphics and massive scalability and memory capacities. In fact, we’ve designed configurations with an industry-leading 1600MHz front-side bus to help provide screaming performance."
