
In an effort to go green,
Dell today introduced a new
environment-friendly desktop PC which boast of an Energy Star 4.0 rating. The rating means that the Inspiron 531 will
reduce your power bill and carbon footprint. The desktop is powered by an 80 percent efficient power supply, and automatically switches to a low-power sleep state after 15 minutes of inactivity. Dell's
environment policy doesn't end here as they've ensured that you also get a forest-friendly paperless owner’s manual. The press release also said using an energy-efficient desktop with a flat panel monitor for four years can reduce carbon dioxide (C02) emissions by approximately the same amount as not driving a car for eight weeks.
As for specifications, you get an AMD AthlonTM 64 X2 dual-core processor, 1GB DDR2 memory, 160GB hard drive, CDRW / DVD combination drive, NVIDIA integrated graphics, and Windows Vista Home Basic for $369.
