Intel Atom “Cedar Trail” processor platform is finally here! In the last week of December Intel official launched the Cedar Trail Atom platform consisting of dual-core Intel Atom processor N2600 and N2800 for laptops, and dual-core Atom processor D2700 for desktops and all-in-ones.

We know Intel is working on Ivy Bridge 22nm processors since a long time and may demonstrate computers powered by the said platform during CES in January 2012, but until now we didn’t have a clear picture on Ivy Bridge’s release date. But now word on internet has it Intel will introduce Ivy Bridge processors on April 8! If this is not interesting, then Digitimes goes on to say that Intel will launch as many as 25 Ivy Bridge processors, 18 for desktops and 7 for laptops! Incredible!

AMD today officially updated its A-Series Llano accelerated processing units (APUs) for desktops and laptops. The new chips have two/four cores and offer speed and performance improvements. For desktop users, AMD extends its overclocking pedigree to the APU; for the first time users can tune both x86 and graphics settings in a single processor for boosted performance.

SandForce today announced the SF-2481 SSD processor – the first SSD processor optimized for cloud computing environments. The processor features a number of innovations including increasing the endurance of SSDs built with standard MLC flash by incorporating nearly twice the normal error correction strength. Qualcomm recently launched two new mobile processors under Snapdragon family — the MSM8625 and the MSM8225 chipsets. Both chipsets provide dual core CPUs operating up to 1GHz, Qualcomm’s Adreno 203 GPU and an integrated 3G modem.

Though Intel is suppose to go official on its Ivy Bridge processors in second quarter of 2012, details of Ivy Bridge processor family has leaked on internet. According to leaked report, the Ivy Bridge processor family will initially include eleven 22nm processors — 3 mainstream, 2 unlocked, three mid-power and three low-power models.

Originally Intel was suppose to unveil Cedar Trail-M platform in September. But due to low demand of Atom processors because of competition from tablet PCs, Intel delayed the launch of Cedar Trail-M platform. Now word on internet has it Intel will officially unveil the Cedar Trail-M 32nm platform including Atom N2800 and N2600 processors in December.
