Hitachi has announced that it is now shipping industry’s 25nm SLC NAND flash based solid state drive for enterprise users — the Ultrastar SSD400S.B. Hitachi reports that the drive conform to the Trusted Computing Group’s Enterprise A Security Subsystem Class encryption specification, helping customers protect sensitive data, and reduce the costs associated with drive retirement and reuse. Hitachi Ultrastar SSD400S.B sport a 2.5″ form factor and is based on 6Gb/s Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) interface. What is interesting about this SSD is that it support up to 35 petabytes (PB) of random writes over the life of the drive, which is the equivalent of writing 19.2TB/day for five years!

Touted as its fastest, most robust client/consumer solid state drive to date, the Intel SSD 520 features 6Gbps SATA III interface and is built using 25nm NAND memory process technology. The Intel SSD 520 uses an LSI SandForce Flash Storage Processor with an Intel co-defined and validated firmware release to deliver up to 80,000 maximum 4K random write IOPS and up to 50,000 4K random read IOPS.

Fujitsu who has so far stayed away from jumping into solid state drive bangwagon has finally decided to take the plunge by launching it’s first solid state drive. The Fujitsu SSD sports a 2.5-inch form factor and SATA 6.0Gbps interface. Dubbed as HLACC2031A-G1, the drive is based on SandForce SF-2281 controller and deliver 550MB/s read and 500MB/s write speed, with 55,000 read and 40,000 write IOPS.

Sporting a metal enclosure and SATA 6.0Gbps interface, the PNY Optima Pro makes use of MLC (multi-level cell) NAND Flash memory chips.

RunCore has introduced a new solid state drive with SATA 3 interface — the RunCore Pro-V MAX. It is based on the SF-2281 controller with the optimized firmware (the Golden FW) and provides read and write transfer rate at 560MB/s and 520MB/s, respectively, and the burst IOPS at 87K while sustained IOPS over 60K. According to RunCore, the Pro-V MAX SSD is ideal for use in gaming machines, HPC & datacenter servers.
